The invention discloses biometric-based vulnerability control of a passenger restraint system on a motor vehicle. A method for controlling an occupant restraint system on a motor vehicle includes receiving, via a controller, biometric vulnerability classifier signal (s) indicative of a vulnerability characteristic of an occupant seated inside the motor vehicle. In response to the biometric feature recognition vulnerability classifier signal (s) and a detected vehicle event requiring actuation of the passenger restraint system, the method includes automatically adjusting, via the controller, an actual capacity setting of the passenger restraint system. A motor vehicle includes a body defining a vehicle interior, a passenger restraint system located in the vehicle interior; and a controller operable to control an actual capacity setting of the passenger restraint system according to the method. The passenger restraint system may include a seat belt, a seat, and one or more airbag systems.
