A system for managing flight parameters of an aircraft is parameterized with an overall flight cost target. For the first flight, parameters of a cost function of the first flight are determined (103), respectively with respect to different cost factors. The flight parameters are optimized (104) in order to minimize a cost function. Avionics of the aircraft performing the first flight are programmed with the flight parameters. Upon detection of an event in flight that needs to modify the flight parameters, the parameters of the cost function and the flight parameters are recalculated, and the avionics device is reprogrammed accordingly. The method is repeated for at least the second flight taking into account the effective contribution of the first flight to the overall target. Thus, airlines can perform overall multi-objective optimization on their flight.
