The invention relates to an expressway detecting and positioning method, which comprises the following steps of: 1, carrying out mesh generation coding on a space with a proper height in an expressway boundary, and establishing a four-dimensional space-time mesh system; 2, detecting and positioning units are arranged at roadside guardrails on the two sides of the expressway or roadside infrastructures; step 3, projecting the obtained vehicle position information to the highway four-dimensional space-time grid system by the detection positioning unit so as to obtain vehicle, pavement and highway environment conditions; and 4, updating the time-space grid attributes in real time by the detection positioning unit, establishing an application model facing driving safety, operation maintenance and illegal intrusion based on the highway infrastructure grid data, namely an infrastructure domain model, and ensuring the safe operation of the high-speed vehicle through the infrastructure domain model. The detection positioning unit is arranged on the roadside, so that the detection positioning precision can be effectively improved, and the situation of misjudgment is avoided.
