A blind spot guidance system for a vehicle includes a perception system, an electric motor, and one or more controllers. The one or more controllers execute instructions to monitor a trajectory of the vehicle to determine when to initiate a lane change maneuver to maneuver the vehicle from a current driving lane to an adjacent driving lane. In response to determining to initiate a lane change maneuver, one or more controllers monitor a perceptual system for a moving obstacle located in a blind spot of the vehicle. In response to determining that a moving obstacle is present in the blind spot of the vehicle, the one or more controllers instruct the electric motor to generate an assist torque provided to the steering wheel, where the assist torque directs the vehicle back to the current driving lane.
