The invention relates to a redundant safety braking system which comprises a winding drum, a rotating shaft and a braking mechanism, the braking mechanism comprises a braking wheel, a braking assembly, a mechanical device and an electrical device, a braking rod is arranged on the rotating shaft, the braking wheel is in threaded connection to the braking rod, the braking assembly brakes the braking wheel, and the mechanical device is in threaded connection with the mechanical device. The mechanical device pushes the brake assembly to brake the brake wheel, and the electrical device is arranged at the end of the winding drum and used for detecting the speed of the rotating shaft to drive the brake assembly to brake. According to the safety brake, the brake assembly is driven by the mechanical device or the electrical device to brake the brake wheel, when the mechanical device or the electrical device is damaged, the other device can still drive the brake assembly to brake, and then the possibility that the safety and reliability of the safety brake are reduced due to the single device is reduced.
