The invention relates to a charging connector. The concepts described herein provide a system and associated charging connector that is capable of transferring power stored in a rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) of an electrified vehicle to supply power to a stationary system (e.g., a residential or commercial site) when a power outage occurs in a power network that supplies power to the stationary system. This includes a charging connector that is capable of transferring power when a power outage occurs under conditions where the RESS of the electrified vehicle is initially disconnected from the charging connector. This concept enables the electrified vehicle to supply power to the stationary system while making a connection after a delay period after a power-off.
