The present disclosure describes an in-vehicle apparatus that includes a base vehicle and a seating unit that is releasably connectable to the base vehicle. The base vehicle includes an electronic control device and a vehicle-side wireless communication device, and the seat unit includes at least one sensor, a battery, an electronic unit and a seat-side wireless communication device. In order to provide the electronic control device of the basic vehicle with necessary information about the seat unit in an energy-saving manner, the electronic unit reads out the state of the at least one sensor in a specific time scheme, and transmitting a sensor-related signal via the seat-side wireless communication device only when the state of the sensor has changed since a previous read-out.
