The invention describes a device for measuring the vertical and/or lateral movement of a contact line (202) of an overhead line (200), comprising two transmitters/receivers (2a, 2b) directed towards each other and a reflecting plate (3), such that a light beam emitted by each of the transmitters/receivers (2a, 2b) is reflected on the reflecting plate (3) and returned to the receiver of the transmitters/receivers (2a, 2b). The transmitter/receiver (2a, 2b) is mechanically fixed to the fixed bracket (300) or to the contact line (202) of the overhead line (200) whose movement is to be measured, and the reflective plate (3) is mechanically fixed to the other of the fixed bracket (300) or to the contact line (202). The analysis of the light beams received by the receivers (2a, 2b) after being reflected by the reflecting plate (3) allows vertical and/or lateral movement to be obtained.
