The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for estimating the state of health of a humidifier (20) of a fuel cell system (1) of a vehicle (100), comprising:-in response to determining that predefined conditions of a vehicle on-board measurement are satisfied:-performing (S1) a step response measurement, comprising measuring parameters relating to a dynamic response of water mass delivery and heat delivery of the humidifier when a step increase of the fuel cell system (1) is performed, where the step increase indicates an instantaneous power increase of the fuel cell system (1); and-fitting (S2) the measured parameters into the humidifier aging model and estimating (S3) therefrom the state of health of the humidifier (20). The invention also relates to a fuel cell system (1), a vehicle (100), a computer program and a computer readable medium.
