The invention relates to a method for operating a drive train of a vehicle, comprising an electric machine, a transmission connected between the electric machine and a driven device, a starting element and the driven device, the starting element being a frictional shift element of the transmission or a frictional clutch located outside the transmission, a predetermined filling pressure value to be adapted for the starting element is adapted in order to determine an adapted filling pressure value for the starting element. In order to test the plausibility of the adapted filling pressure value, the actuating pressure of the starting element, which corresponds to the adapted filling pressure value, is changed by an offset amount and a torque change of the electric machine resulting therefrom is ascertained, and if the torque change of the electric machine and the offset amount of the actuating pressure correspond to each other within a defined limit, the filling pressure value is determined. If the torque change of the motor and the offset of the control pressure do not correspond to each other within a defined limit, it is inferred that the adapted filling pressure value is trusted, and if the torque change of the motor and the offset of the control pressure do not correspond to each other within the defined limit, it is inferred that the adapted filling pressure value is not trusted.
