The invention relates to a method for predicting future driving conditions of a vehicle, wherein sensor data is collected during travel of the vehicle along a route. Furthermore, a position of the vehicle is determined. The collected data is then assigned to the determined vehicle position. And creating a map according to the associated data. When re-passing the route, the map is updated in real time according to the associated data from the re-passing. Finally, a prediction of future driving conditions is obtained based on the determined vehicle position and the map. The map is represented by a directed graph, and associated data is assigned to each node of the directed graph. Future position-related parameters on the route of travel are predicted as a function of the determined vehicle position and the map, the prediction being made as a function of the nodes of the directed graph corresponding to the determined vehicle position. The prediction is performed on a prediction region covering a plurality of nodes of the directed graph, and when the prediction region extends beyond one branch of the directed graph, the nodes of a plurality of branches connected to the branch are considered for prediction.
