The invention provides an unequal-thickness steel wheel and a manufacturing method thereof. The manufacturing method of the unequal-thickness steel wheel comprises the following steps that the unequal-thickness steel wheel is divided into at least two areas, and the at least two areas correspond to different positions of the unequal-thickness steel wheel respectively and have different thickness requirements; according to different thickness requirements, required steel plates are cut, and the thickness and the size of the steel plates are matched with those of the at least two areas; and the steel plate is machined through an unequal-thickness forming technology to form the unequal-thickness rim and spoke assembly. The variable-section wheel is designed, the steel plate is machined through the unequal-thickness forming technology, the rigidity of the rim and the spoke is variable, the NVH performance of a whole vehicle using the steel wheel is improved, and noise in the vehicle is effectively reduced; and compared with an equal-thickness steel wheel, optimal distribution of weight and rigidity is achieved.
