Systems and methods in the present application use a driver-oriented imaging device to monitor driver behavior for vehicle fleet management in a fleet of vehicles. Systems and methods herein generally relate to vehicle fleet management for enhancing the safety of a fleet and improving the performance of a fleet driver, and also to monitoring the operation of a fleet vehicle using one or more driver-oriented imaging devices disposed in the vehicle, a system and method for recording activities of a fleet driver and its passengers, storing information relating to monitored activities, selectively generating alerts relating to the monitored activities, and reporting the monitored activities to a central fleet management system to improve safety of the vehicle and help to improve performance of the fleet driver.
