Certain embodiments also provide a method of operating a battery having a first cell and a second cell, comprising: operating the first cell and the second cell according to different time-interleaved charge/discharge cycles, each cycle comprises a cooling period after each charging phase and a cooling period after each discharging phase; wherein the operation includes rotating the flywheel using the engine.
