An embodiment of the present invention relates to a pedestrian flow suppression device, comprising: a first sensor for detecting the boarding and landing of a user; a housing having a base part fixedly provided at the access port and a movable part capable of moving from the base part in the same direction as the access direction of the user and engaged with the base part; a guide fence which can stretch and retract and is arranged between the base part and the movable part in a straddling manner; an actuator; a plurality of trundles; an information acquisition unit that acquires the riding rate of the escalator as utilization information on the basis of the detection condition of the first sensor; a determination unit that determines that there is a need to guide a telescopic motion of the fence when the riding rate exceeds a first threshold value; and a display device which displays at least one of the riding rate and the operation state of the escalator in normal time, and performs display which prompts a user to pay attention in the telescopic motion of the guide fence.
