The invention provides an automatic-calibration head-up display system and a calibration method. The automatic-calibration head-up display system comprises a head-up display, an image sensor and a calculation circuit. The computing circuit is used for controlling the head-up display to project a preset pattern to the windshield and controlling the image sensor to acquire an image. The calculation circuit is also used for detecting the human face in the image and calculating the visual height according to the human face. The calculation circuit detects a preset pattern in the image and calculates the projection height according to the preset pattern. The calculating circuit is used for controlling the rotating module, so that the pattern projected by the head-up display has displacement on the windshield, and the displacement is equal to the difference between the projection height and the visual height. Therefore, calibration can be automatically carried out.
