The invention relates to the technical field of railway transportation, in particular to an automatic uncoupling method and an automatic uncoupling coupler thereof, which comprises the following steps: device connection: connecting the automatic uncoupling couplers of two carriages, checking the output end of a current stabilization module to be connected with the automatic uncoupling couplers, and connecting the input end of the current stabilization module to wheels; the device is started, a vehicle runs, the current stabilizing module is charged, the current stabilizing module provides electric power for the automatic uncoupling coupler, and an electric push rod on the automatic uncoupling coupler moves to store energy for an uncoupling mechanism on the automatic uncoupling coupler; and the device operates: the vehicle stops operating, the current stabilizer stops charging, the current stabilizing module stops supplying power to the automatic uncoupling couplers, and the automatic uncoupling couplers release the stored energy, so that the two automatic uncoupling couplers are separated. The efficiency, safety and reliability of railway transportation are improved, the requirement for manual operation is reduced, and the railway transportation system can be suitable for various types of railway vehicles.
