The invention relates to a micro-gas generator (10) for a vehicle safety system, comprising a plastic housing part (20) and a metallic insert (22), the insert (22) being overmolded with the plastic forming the housing part (20) and thereby connected to the housing part (20) in a form-fitting manner, and wherein a receptacle (24) is formed in the housing part (20), into which receptacle an igniter (14) is inserted. The invention further relates to a method for producing a micro-gas generator (10).
