The underwing flap support mounting structure includes: an underwing beam including an integrated U-shaped clip at a front end of the underwing beam and mounted to a lower skin of a wing box, where the integrated U-shaped clip includes a first U-shaped clip hole and a second U-shaped clip hole; and a wing box lug assembly including a wing box lug and a spherical bearing support assembly carrying the race and the spherical bearing, the wing box lug having a wing box lug bore, and the spherical bearing having a spherical bearing bore, a fore-aft oriented safety catch is slidably received in the spherical bearing bore, the first cleat bore, and the second cleat bore to prevent relative linear vertical movement of the wing underbeam and the integral cleat relative to a wing box lug fitting mounted to a lower skin of the wing box.
