The invention discloses a typical structure of a mixed material instrument panel cross beam, which comprises a tubular beam and vehicle body mounting brackets arranged at the two ends of the tubular beam, the tubular beam is further provided with an IP support used for installing an instrument desk, a steering column installing support used for being connected with a steering system, a front wall support used for being connected with an automobile front wall and a middle channel support used for being connected with a floor. Wherein the vehicle body mounting bracket, the IP bracket, the front wall bracket and the middle channel bracket are injection molding parts made of plastics, and the tubular beam is a steel tube; the invention further discloses a manufacturing method of the typical structure of the mixed material instrument panel cross beam. By combining a steel part with an injection molding material, compared with a steel structure instrument panel cross beam, the weight can be reduced by 25%, compared with aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy instrument panel cross beams, the cost is low, meanwhile, the injection molding process is adopted to replace a welding process, and the production quality of the instrument panel cross beam is guaranteed.
