The invention relates to two methods for overcoming fatigue for a driver of a motor vehicle, in which a calculation rule is used in the second method, by means of which a fatigue curve (MVK) can be created from a parameter set, which curve represents the progression (V20) of fatigue of the driver with respect to time (t), a specific value (V21) for the parameter set is determined for the road section ahead, a fatigue curve (MVK) for the road section ahead is determined (V22) by means of a calculation rule using the value determined for the parameter set, the fatigue curve (MVK) is evaluated (V23), a countermeasure is triggered as a function of the result of the evaluation, and the fatigue curve (MVK) is determined (V22) for the road section ahead. At least one value of a variable parameter of the parameter set is varied in a targeted manner by the countermeasure (V24).
