Electric vehicles are charged using a traffic queue having at least one charging lane, the traffic queue including a plurality of ground-side wireless charging components mounted in the ground and spaced apart to allow simultaneous charging of at least two vehicles through wireless power transfer. During charging, the vehicle is aligned with a first ground-side wireless charging component in the at least one charging lane and charged using the first ground-side wireless charging component in a first charging session. The vehicle is then advanced to and aligned with the second ground-side wireless charging component, and charged using the second ground-side wireless charging component in a second charging session. A sequential sequence of messaging is provided between the first and second ground-side wireless charging components and the vehicle-side wireless charging component to control powering and billing of the first and second charging sessions.
