At least one maximum threshold value of the torque setpoint (CC) and of the engine torque (CR) at the wheels is determined, while a time counting is initiated when the torque setpoint (CC) at the engine and the brake setpoint (CF) are issued in parallel and when the maximum threshold value is exceeded, and when the maximum threshold value is exceeded, the torque setpoint (CC) at the engine and the brake setpoint (CF) are activated. When a predetermined maximum duration for which the setpoint is issued in parallel while exceeding the maximum threshold is reached, operation of the regulator in a degraded mode of manipulation is performed while the torque setpoint (CC) is cancelled.
