The rearview mirror adjusting method comprises the steps that when the included angle sigma between a first straight line formed by an identification point at the tail of a trailer and the center point of a camera and the optical axis of the camera is smaller than a critical angle sigma0, the mirror surface of a rearview mirror is adjusted so that the identification point at the tail of the trailer can be located in the view area of the rearview mirror; wherein the camera is arranged on a mounting bracket of the rearview mirror, and the camera and the rearview mirror are located at respective design positions; the critical angle sigma0 is obtained based on the standard critical angle sigma1 and the revision value, and the standard critical angle sigma1 is the included angle between the first straight line and the optical axis of the camera when the trailer deflects to the first straight line relative to the cab and coincides with the outer boundary of the view of the rearview mirror. According to the method, when the vehicle runs, the camera captures the trailer tail recognition point in real time and obtains the included angle sigma between the first straight line and the optical axis of the camera, and when the sigma is smaller than the critical angle sigma0, the rearview mirror surface is adjusted to ensure that the view field of the rearview mirror surface covers the trailer tail.
