A throttle lever suitable for controlling the magnitude and direction of thrust of one or more aircraft engines is described. The throttle lever includes a frame, a trigger mechanism, a connection element, a cam engagement mechanism, a biasing device, a cam, and a handle adapted to be grasped by a user when the throttle lever is in use. The cam includes a slot having first and second slot portions and a stop portion. A stop portion extends between and connects the first slot portion and the second slot portion. The cam engagement mechanism includes a cam lever pivotally attached to the frame via a cam lever pivot and a slot engagement element attached to the cam lever. The trigger mechanism includes a trigger lever pivotally attached to the frame via a trigger pivot and a trigger. A trigger extends through the handle. A connecting element is attached to the trigger lever and the cam lever. A biasing device biases the cam lever to rotate in a first direction about the cam lever pivot.
