The invention relates to the technical field of BIM, in particular to a road safety evaluation method and system based on the BIM technology. The method comprises the following steps: S1, automatically calculating the running speed for road sections with different linear shapes; s2, according to a calculation result, an adjacent road section operation speed coordination evaluation method and a same road section operation speed and design speed coordination comprehensive evaluation method are adopted to carry out operation speed intelligent evaluation; s3, realizing real-time vehicle simulation in a three-dimensional space by using a BIM technology; s4, performing vehicle simulation demonstration on the long downhill section of the road by using a BIM three-dimensional space, thereby performing safety evaluation on the long downhill section of the road; and the BIM technology is combined with vehicle simulation and safety performance evaluation, so that safety evaluation can be performed more intuitively and truly.
