The invention relates to predicting recent future behavior of a road user. A method performed by an evaluation system is provided. The evaluation system obtains a state of the vehicle including at least the attitude of the vehicle relative to the digital map; obtaining map data associated with the vehicle attitude from the digital map to transform it to the selected coordinate system; identifying a lane segment without a road user by evaluating a road user state relative to the map data in the selected coordinate system; a network input comprising data associated with a lane segment and a road user state and historical data is encoded as state-related data associated with the road user state and segment-related data associated with dynamic start and end boundaries of the lane segment, and feeding it to a neural network to output spatially and temporally processed data; the output data is fed to at least a first behavior prediction neural network for processing to predict a predicted future behavior of the target road user.
