Adjusting device (2) for a vehicle component (1), comprising: a guide rail (21) extending in a longitudinal direction (X); an adjustment assembly (20) associated with the vehicle assembly (21) and guided on the guide rail (21) so as to be movable in the longitudinal direction (X); a screw (23) arranged on the guide rail (21); and an adjusting transmission (22) which is arranged on the adjusting assembly (20), is operatively connected to the screw (20), has a transmission housing (224) and can be driven in order to move the adjusting transmission (22) together with the adjusting assembly (20) in the longitudinal direction (X) relative to the guide rail (21). According to the invention, at least one retaining element (220, 221) is arranged on the adjusting assembly (20), said retaining element having an opening (222, 223) delimited by an edge (225), through which opening the screw (23) extends. The at least one retaining element (220, 221) supports the transmission housing (224) on the adjusting assembly (20) in a floating manner such that the transmission housing (224) can be moved together with the screw (23) along a direction (Z) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (X) over a support stroke (Z1) relative to the at least one retaining element (220, 221). The adjusting device (2) has a support element (28, 28A, 28B, 28C) which is designed to limit a bearing travel (Z1) of the transmission housing (224) in a direction (Z) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (X) in such a way that the screw (23) is prevented from resting on an edge (225) of the opening (222, 223) of the at least one retaining element (220, 221) in the direction (Z) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (X).
