The invention provides a reconfigurable wheel-track composite propelling mechanism. The trafficability of the propelling mechanism in a track mode is improved to a great extent. Comprising a frame assembly, hubs, a chain wheel set, an elastic crawler belt, a main shaft clutch and a chassis clutch. The elastic crawler belt is an annular belt with teeth on the inner surface; the chain wheel group comprises a plurality of chain wheels which are uniformly distributed on the inner circumferential surface of the elastic crawler belt at intervals along the circumferential direction and are provided with outer teeth; the chain wheel is meshed with the elastic track through outer teeth; one side of the frame assembly is hinged to the hub, the other side of the frame assembly is hinged to the chain wheel set, the elastic crawler belt is driven to deform through deformation of the frame assembly, and therefore switching between a wheel type mode and a crawler belt mode is achieved. In the crawler belt mode, the elastic crawler belt forms a polygonal structure which is symmetrical about the axis of the vehicle main shaft, and the front supporting section and the rear supporting section of the propelling mechanism are crawler belt sections formed by sequentially and smoothly connecting straight line sections and arc sections. The vehicle spindle is connected with the hub through the spindle clutch, and the chassis clutch is installed between the hub and the vehicle body.
