The invention relates to an apparatus for supporting flight operation of an aircraft and a method thereof. The method includes accessing a data stream of a geographic location of the aircraft on a respective flight. The geographic location is determined using a satellite navigation system and obtained from an automatic dependent surveillance broadcast (ADS-B) location report or is independent of an ADS-B location report estimate. A geographic location is tracked to determine that the geographic location is obtained from an ADS-B location report by a number of respective flights that change to be independent of an estimate of the ADS-B location report. The method includes obtaining, from the ADS-B location report based on the geographic location, a number of respective flights that change to be estimated independently of the ADS-B location report and determining an interruption that the satellite navigation system is unavailable to the aircraft based on a threshold. And generating an interrupt notification that is output to alert the user of an interrupt.
