The techniques employ spatial audio information to enhance way finding for carrying and getting off and in-vehicle conditions. The spatial information has a directional component, and a sense of distance may also be incorporated into the audio information. Audio cues or other spatial information are provided via a headset worn by the user. Spatial audio gives direction information to the user, which may help locate the vehicle. Furthermore, this method may be used when a passenger is in the vehicle prior to getting off the vehicle. For example, spatial audio may be provided to riders to provide them with contextual information about the outside environment prior to getting off, such as whether a bicycle rider is approaching the side on which they are going to get off. The contextual information may alert the rider to wait or otherwise pay more attention to the situation when leaving the vehicle.
