Aspects of the invention relate to a method (500) of manufacturing a cover for an interior or exterior trim part of a vehicle. The method includes forming a 3D woven structure (510) by weaving together at least one heat activated yarn and at least one non-heat activated yarn. The structure may be arranged such that, during a subsequent heat treatment process (520), the cover is heated to a temperature at or above the activation temperature, thereby activating the thermally activated yarns to cool to form an automotive cover having a braided structure of increased stiffness.
