A method designed to provide formation information using a multi-focal-plane augmented reality display of a host vehicle. The method includes receiving formation data from at least one of a plurality of remote vehicles. Each of the plurality of remote vehicles is part of a fleet. The formation data includes a location, a trajectory, and an inter-vehicle time interval for each of the plurality of remote vehicles. The method also includes determining whether the fleet is within a predetermined distance from the host vehicle using the fleet data. Further, the method includes sending a command signal to a multi-focal-plane augmented reality display of the host vehicle to display the virtual image on the multi-focal-plane augmented reality display. The virtual image indicates a fleet action associated with a fleet within a predetermined distance from the host vehicle.
