The invention discloses an automatic magnetic control collection system and method for space debris. The automatic magnetic control collection system comprises a control spacecraft and a debris collector. The fragment collector comprises a fragment container and a magnetic control dust collector arranged on the inlet side of the fragment container, the magnetic control dust collector comprises at least one rotary magnetic control array, the rotary magnetic control array comprises a plurality of permanent magnet-based rotary magnetic dipoles arranged in an array, and in the same rotary magnetic control array, the rotation directions of the adjacent rotary magnetic dipoles are opposite; and the rotating speed of each rotating magnetic dipole is controllable. A time-varying master control magnetic field is created in a surrounding space by using a rotary magnetic control array, the time-varying master control magnetic field acts on space debris and induces vortex distribution on the surface of the space debris so as to generate a secondary magnetic field, the secondary magnetic field and the time-varying master control magnetic field act to generate magnetic force/torque required for collecting the space debris along an orbit, and the space debris is automatically collected along the orbit. Collection is automatically carried out along the rail, the requirement for parameters such as space debris configuration is low, and relative pose measurement and closed-loop control are not needed.
