The invention provides a space station extravehicular load care method in a fault mode. The method comprises the steps that S1, an astronaut carries an extravehicular electric tool and a switching tool for assembling a switching cable and an extension rod out of a cabin and moves to the position of a fault load adapter; s2, the extravehicular electric tool is fixed to a mechanical arm target adapter through a switching tool, and an extension rod is inserted into a manual operation interface of the active end of a load adapter; s3, the plug, inserted into the mechanical arm target adapter, of the active end of the load adapter is pulled out, and the plug of the adapter cable of the extra-cabin electric tool is plugged again; s4, the mechanical arm grabs the mechanical arm target adapter, and polls the extravehicular electric tool; and S5, the astronaut climbs back into the capsule, and the mechanical arm transfers the load assembly back into the capsule according to a normal working mode. According to the method, mechanical arm operation is used as a main mode, astronaut operation is used as an auxiliary mode, a normal working mode is used, and recovery of the active end of the faulted load adapter and the extravehicular load borne by the active end is achieved.
