The invention provides a method and a device for determining energy recovery intensity. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a first vehicle speed of a vehicle at a first position, initial energy recovery intensity and road condition information of a road to which the first position belongs; according to the first vehicle speed, the maximum vehicle speed and the target distance between the first position and the target speed measurement point, the required torque of the whole vehicle wheel end for adjusting the vehicle from the first vehicle speed to the maximum vehicle speed within the target distance is calculated; and target energy recovery intensity is determined according to the required torque and the initial energy recovery intensity, so that the energy recovery intensity of the vehicle is controlled to be the target energy recovery intensity. Different energy recovery intensities can be achieved under the current energy recovery level according to the road condition information of the road where the vehicle is located and the real-time vehicle speed, the energy recovery intensities are intelligently adjusted in real time, manual selection of a driver is not needed, the vehicle can pass through the target speed measurement point in a more energy-saving mode, the oil consumption of the hybrid power vehicle is reduced, and the vehicle energy consumption is reduced. The energy utilization rate and the user experience can be improved.
