The present disclosure relates to a human machine interface (HMI) apparatus of a vehicle and a method of controlling the same, the HMI apparatus including: a determination unit, a determination unit configured to determine whether to recommend a vehicle around the vehicle based on at least one of a traffic jam degree in a navigation path of the vehicle, a degree of disfullness of the occupant, an input of the occupant, and an update of a predicted arrival time of the vehicle; a calculation unit configured to calculate at least one of an expected arrival time and an expected fee for the occupant to arrive at the destination along the navigation path using the vehicle; and an interface unit configured to provide the occupant with at least one of the predicted time of arrival and the predicted cost of the occupant.
