The invention relates to the technical field of cranes, in particular to an automatic hook of a metallurgical crane and a hooking method thereof.The automatic hook comprises two symmetrically-arranged hook bodies, sliding columns are slidably inserted into the upper portions of the hook bodies correspondingly, and the same mounting base is arranged at the positions of the opposite faces of the sliding columns; a connecting base used for being connected with a trolley is arranged at the center of the top of the mounting base, an adjusting assembly used for controlling the hook body to move is arranged on the side, close to an opening of the hook body, of the mounting base, anti-disengaging clamps are inserted into the sides, with openings, of the lower portions of the hook body, and shaft rods are transversely inserted into the upper portions of the anti-disengaging clamps; the shaft rods rotationally penetrate through the hook body, hanging lugs are transversely inserted into the concave faces of the lower portions of the hook body, and the same crucible body is arranged between the opposite faces of the hanging lugs. According to the invention, the distance between the hook main bodies can be quickly adjusted through the arranged adjusting assembly, so that the adaptation universality of the hook main bodies in use is effectively improved.
