According to the invention, the method comprises a first step (E0) of determining a pair of values comprising a voltage (Umin) and an internal resistance (Rint) of the battery on the basis of each impulse current, after which the first step (E0) performs a second sub-step, characterised in that the third sub-step determines, for each pair of values, a condition (STATUT) taking the following states: an unreliable state (STNF), in which the voltage (Umin) and the internal resistance (Rint) of the battery are connected to each other, and an unreliable state (STNF), in which the voltage (Umin) and the internal resistance (Rint) of the battery are connected to each other; -a reliable state (STF) when the inrush current induced by the electrical request is too weak relative to a predetermined threshold during a granted time,-a reliable state (STF) when the inrush current induced by the electrical request is greater than or equal to the predetermined threshold during the granted time.
