The invention relates to the technical field of escalator control, in particular to an escalator operation control method and system.The method comprises the following steps that S100, an escalator taking image in a preset reminding area is obtained; s200, according to the elevator taking image, analyzing real-time behavior characteristics of the elevator taking personnel, generating an elevator taking concentration degree analysis result, and if the elevator taking concentration degree analysis result is that the concentration degree of the elevator taking personnel is smaller than a preset concentration degree, executing S300; s300, according to the elevator taking image, whether the elevator taking person makes contact with a handrail of the escalator or not is analyzed, if yes, S400 is executed, and if not, S400 is executed; and S400, the handrail of the escalator is controlled to run in an accelerated mode, and the running speed of the handrail is controlled to recover to the initial speed after preset time. By the adoption of the scheme, the elevator taking personnel can be reminded according to the concentration degree of the elevator taking personnel in front of the escalator exit, and the elevator taking safety is improved.
