The present disclosure describes methods and systems for notifying a back-end service of the presence of an electric scooter within a parking area of the electric scooter. The method comprises the following steps: a) transmitting a communication signal by a stationary field device first transmitter of the stationary field device; b) detecting the communication signal by a mobile field device receiver of the mobile field device, c) transmitting a response signal by a mobile field device transmitter of the mobile field device as a response to the mobile field device receiver detecting the communication signal, d) detecting the response signal by a stationary field device receiver of the stationary field device as a response to the mobile field device receiver detecting the communication signal, e) determining, by the stationary field device, whether the mobile field device is present at a distance Llt of the stationary field device on the basis of at least the detected response signal; and f) notifying the back-end service by the stationary field device via a stationary field device second transmitter and a back-end service receiver of whether the mobile field device is present within the distance L of the stationary field device.
