A charging circuit (LS) equipped with a battery terminal (AA), a direct current terminal (GA) and an alternating current terminal (WA), the alternating current terminal being connected to the alternating current side (WS) of the rectifier (G1) of the charging circuit (LS). The DC side (GS) of the rectifier (G1) is connected to the first side (1S) of the DC voltage converter (GW) via a transfer switch (US) which selectively connects the first side (1S) of the DC voltage converter (GW) to the DC termination (GA) or to a first potential (-) of the DC side (GS) of the rectifier (G1). A second potential (+) of the DC side (GS) of the rectifier (G1) is connected to the DC terminal (GA) via a diode (D1). The blocking direction of the diode (D1) points to the DC terminal (GA). The second side (2S) of the DC voltage converter (GW) is connected to the battery terminal (AA), to which the DC terminal (GA) is connected via a disconnector (TS1). A vehicle electrical system having a charging circuit is also described.
