In an exemplary embodiment, methods and systems are provided that include obtaining vehicle telemetry data via telematics systems of a plurality of vehicles while the plurality of vehicles travel through one or more geographic areas; converting, from the computer processor, the vehicle telemetry data into a geo-hash coded format related to the one or more geo-regions; identifying, via a processor, a plurality of road intersections using the vehicle telemetry data converted into geo-hash codes; identifying, via a processor, a plurality of road segments using the geohash-encoded vehicle telemetry data converted into one or more geographic regions; and generating, via a processor, a road network map of one or more geographic areas including a plurality of road intersections and a plurality of road segments using the vehicle telemetry data converted into the geographic hash code.
