The system includes: a camera determining a change in an amount of light entering the vehicle; a processor; and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including: in response to the camera determining a change in an amount of light entering the vehicle, calculating a solar load based on data from the camera, the solar load indicating an intensity of light entering the vehicle; and in response to calculating the solar load, adjusting a climate control system in the vehicle based on the solar load and a target temperature of the interior of the vehicle, the climate control system maintaining the target temperature.
