The invention discloses an automobile polyester window film and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of films. The film comprises an outer layer, a core layer and an inner layer, wherein the outer layer comprises the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 20-40% of an infrared absorbent, 57-79% of a high-temperature-resistant optical-grade PET slice and 1-3% of an anti-light aging agent; the core layer comprises the following components in percentage by weight: 5-40% of an infrared absorbent, 57-93.8% of a high-temperature-resistant optical-grade PET slice, 0.2-3% of an anti-light aging agent and 1-10% of aerogel powder; the inner layer is prepared from the following raw materials: 5 to 10 percent of aerogel powder, 3 to 7 percent of anti-ultraviolet agent and 83 to 92 percent of high-temperature-resistant optical-grade PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) slices. The polyester film provided by the invention is high in total solar barrier rate, low in visible light transmittance, relatively high in heat insulation performance and excellent in ageing resistance and high temperature resistance.
