The method is characterized in that an acoustic pulse (62) is emitted into the region to be monitored, an acoustic response signal of the pulse (62) is recorded as an actual signal (64), an envelope curve (66) of the actual signal (64) is determined, and a change is identified on the basis of the envelope curve (66).
