The invention discloses a steel rope sheave which is characterized in that at least two annular rope grooves are formed in the circumferential surface of the rope sheave, the rope grooves are used for containing ropes, the contact surfaces of the rope grooves and the ropes are subjected to laser quenching hardening treatment, and the adjacent rope grooves are separated through groove shoulders; at least one annular groove or at least one group of annularly arrayed holes is formed in the groove shoulder; after laser quenching hardening treatment, the rope grooves on the two sides of the groove shoulder form a hardened layer and a heat affected zone, and the heat affected zone is not overlapped with the hardened layer. The tempering phenomenon occurring in the partial region of the rope groove during laser quenching is eliminated.
