The invention relates to a method for charging at least one electrical energy store (3) of a motor vehicle (1), in which electrical energy is transmitted from a charging station (2) outside the motor vehicle to the energy store (3) via a separable electrical connection, the cooling fluid (9) is conveyed from the charging station (2) to at least one cooling element (15) of the motor vehicle (1) via a separable cooling fluid connection and by means of a conveying device (25), such that thermal energy is transferred from the energy store (3) to the cooling fluid (9) via the cooling element (15) and can be discharged by means of the cooling fluid (9), the pressure in the cooling fluid (9) or in a mixture of the cooling fluid (9) and the gas before and/or during the supply to the cooling element (15) is reduced by means of at least one pressure reducing element (26), such that the boiling temperature of the cooling fluid (9) is reduced, such that the cooling fluid at least partially evaporates during the thermal energy transfer.
