The invention relates to a charging cable (10) for electrically connecting an energy store (11) of a vehicle (12) to an energy supply device (16), comprising: a charging line (13) having a coupling (6) and a plurality of electrical conductors electrically connected to the coupling (6); a first coupling device (14) having an energy transmission means (8) for electrically connecting to the energy store (11); a second connection device (15A) having a first interface (1A) for electrically connecting to the energy supply device (16) and a second interface (2) for detachably electrically connecting to the coupler (6), at least a portion of the energy transmission means (8) of the first connection device (14) being each provided with an electrical conductor of the charging line (13), the first connection device (14) having a control unit (17), the first connection device (14) or the charging line (13) has a bypass switch (4) which can be switched between a first switching state and a second switching state depending on the type of the second connection device (15A), in a first switching state, an electrical connection is established between at least one of the energy transmission means (8) and the associated electrical conductor by bypassing the control unit (17) by means of the bypass switch (4), and in a second switching state, the control unit (17) is electrically connected between the at least one energy transmission means (8) and the associated electrical conductor in order to control the charging process.
