The invention relates to the technical field of new energy automobile control, in particular to a range extender working process control method which comprises the following steps: a power-on process: controlling a range extender controller to perform high-voltage self-inspection after obtaining a power-on enable signal, and transmitting a starting instruction and target power to the range extender controller after the self-inspection is correct; faults caused by over-high and over-low voltage of the range extender are avoided through high-voltage self-inspection; the working process comprises the steps that the range extender enters an idling state, target torque is obtained according to target power, the target torque is transmitted to the generator and the engine controller, and output of the range extender is controlled; a power-off process: sending a power-off instruction to a range extender controller so as to cut off a high-voltage source of the range-extended electric vehicle, and meanwhile, transmitting an active discharge instruction to a generator controller by the range extender controller so as to control a generator to actively discharge; after completion, each controller enters a dormant state; therefore, residual high voltage in the generator controller can be discharged, and potential safety hazards are eliminated.
